It was nice that I didn’t even sit in the Truckfor Two Minuteswhen Paul arrived from having breakfast out. By the time I loaded my Toolboxand Personal Belongingson my Utility Carthe already had the door open.
I barely had the Maintenance Compound open when Ivan joined me. We were hauling the Plasma Cutter and MIG Welderover to wherethe Station 7 and 8 Tankswere before 8:00. In very little time we had the old Balancing Tuberemoved and the Plasmaset up. Using a Templatethe Four Inch Holesturn our perfect leaving little to clean up.
We barely finished that when the Cleaning Crewhad problems with Pipesthat had stripped Fittings. I tried a quick fix by cutting back the treads but it wouldn’t hold in the Manifold. Explaining what we needed to do Ivan cut, cleaned and put the new fitting on while I started welding the Flangeson the Tanks. Personally I would have preferred using a Stick Welderbut had to use theMIG. It would take an Hourto weld eachFlange.
I showed Ivan a little oops he did last week when we were cleaning the Motorsupstairs. For someone who had never done anything like that before he is proving to be a fast learner.
When I spoke to Kathy at lunch time she said we were getting high Winds. The forecast had called for 90 KMH(55 MPH) gusts.
It took nearly Two Hoursfor the Flangesto cool in the meantime we replaced both the One and a Half Inch Valvesthat were leaking. I had to shut the Feed Lineto the Washerson the Mezzaninein order for us to accomplish that but when I went to reactivate the system the Two Inch Valvenearly didn’t open.
Kharen stopped by for a short while taking me into theDrying Ovenand showing me Sheet Metal Flashingthat was warped and hooking the Carriersand Parts. He insisted it had to be cut off today. Needing Two Hundred Feetof Extension Cordit took nearly an Hourto accomplish that simple chore. We and our clothes came out looking different then before we started.
Back on the New Balancing Tubewe sub-assembled it and everything fit like a glove. We made three attempts with positive results each time, Finally we glued it all together and the Nightmare began. As Paul said it’s an Old Washerand the Tankcould be warped just enoughto cause the Problem. It was nearly 6:30 when we called it a night but will have to return in the morning because it has to be running forMonday Morning.
It was nearly 7:00 when I walked in the Apartment and Kathy was already making supper. We had Personal Sized Shepard’s Pie with a slice of Fruit Cakeand a Chocolate Pudding Cupfor dessert.
Kathy had been following the US Newsabout the Thirty Tornadoes that hit Six Stateslast night destroying communities and shattering lives. We didn’t see our Local News.
Here is hoping to a quick resolve tomorrow so we can enjoy part of the day together.
